Local recreation area
The house is located in the middle of the Frankenwarte recreation area directly above the city of Würzburg. (Bus connection available) Lots of nature, peace and beautiful views characterize the area. The highest point up to the Steigerwald, the Frankenwarte Tower, can be reached in 15 minutes on foot and offers a wonderful panoramic view of the entire region.
You can indulge yourself with culinary delights in the nearby garden restaurants Nikolaushof or Schützenhof (10 minutes' walk) past beautiful vineyards and fields with a view of Würzburg. Alternatively, you can walk or cycle to the "old Main Bridge" and enjoy a Würzburg "Schoppen" in the Mainmühlen bar, then continue through the city to the World Heritage Site of the "Würzburg Residence" and its courtyard garden. Alternatively, you can go to the beautiful beer garden of the "Alten Kranen" directly on the Main.
On the way around the accommodation
There is a regular public bus service into the city, line 35. There is a very nice footpath via the famous pilgrimage church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary by Balthasar Neumann "das Käppele" with its beautiful Stations of the Cross into the city or to the Main. From there you have an impressive panoramic view of the entire city of Würzburg. There is 1 parking space in front of the house and a carport parking space.
Other leisure activities
In the immediate vicinity of the Johannishof there is a Kneipp garden and an archery range.
Hidden wine hiking trails lead down to the city.
Joggers will get their money's worth. Field paths and quiet streets lead to the nearby Frankenwarte city park through forests with a view of the Main valley.
Towards the Frankenwarten Tower there is an adventure playground.
The large public “Dallenbergbad” can be reached in just a few minutes and offers optimal bathing fun for families and swimmers.
From Johannishof you can also start a bike tour to the nearby wine towns along the Main to Randersacker, Eibelstadt or Sommerhausen. If you want, you can cycle to Volkach.
We recommend wine tastings in the historic wine cellars of the large wineries Juliusspital, Bürgerspital and Staatlicher Hofkeller, at wineries in the city and the surrounding area, a visit to the rustic wine bars, a night watchman tour and much more.
